During the reign of abbasid caliph mamun-el-Rashid notable progress was made in
the since of astronomy and first observatroy to measure earth’s circumference was
established under his order well. known astronomers like yahya bin Mansoor, Khalid
bin Abdul Malik Maruzie and Abbas bin Saeed prepared astronomical tables to establish
an observatory at the city of Shamasa to collect infomation about the sun and other
planet.
