Angelonia – کالی آنکھوں والی سوسن

اینجولینیا کا پودا کیاریوں میں خوب بھلا معلوم ہوتا ہے، آج میں آٹھ پودے خرید کر لایٔ اور کیاریوں میں لگادیۓ، اب دیکھیں کہ ان پر بہار کب آتی ہے! ۔

سفید اور گلابی سی یہ ننھی ننھی کلیاں میرے من کو خوب بھایٔں، گو کہ موسم بہار جب بھی آیا میری چھوٹی سی بگھیا میں پھول لگانے کے کے لیۓ زمین کی قلت پڑ جاتی ہے اور خان صاحب کی جیب بھی چھوٹی ہونے لگ جاتی ہے مگر پھولوں سے میرا عشق تو ازل سے ہے، اس پر خزاں اپنا تسلط نہیں جما سکتی !۔

Angelonia is also called summer snapdragon, and once you get a good look at it, you’ll know why. اتفاقا [ہوم بیس] میں وہ بھی سیل پر لگا ہوا مل گیا، بیچارا مرجھا رہا تھا اور قیمت بھی گرادی گیٔ تھی، ۔

اب بھلا مجھ کو ترس کیسے نہ آتا اور پودے کے لیۓ میرا دل کیوں نہ مرجھاتا!

لہذا یہ پودا بھی میری ننھی سی بگھیا میں جاۓ امان پا گیا۔

اس پودے کی وجہ سے تتلیاں بھی کھنچی چلی آتی ہیں سو دیکھنا یہ ہے کہ کس کس رنگ اور قسم کی تتلی منڈلاۓ گی، اور اس پودے کی کالی کالی آنکھیں کس کو لبھایٔں گی!۔

Rudbeckia Hirta, the Black-eyed Susan, with the other common names of Brown-eyed Susan, Brown Betty, Brown Daisy (Rudbeckia triloba), Gloriosa Daisy, Yellow Daisy, and Yellow Ox-eye Daisy. It is a flowering plant in the family Asteraceae. It is an upright annual (sometimes biennial or perennial) Black-eyed Susans can be established, like most other wildflowers, simply by spreading seeds throughout a designated area. They are able to reseed themselves after the first season.
The plant can reach a height of 1 m. It has alternate, mostly basal leaves 10-18 cm long, covered by coarse hair. It flowers from June to August, with inflorescences measuring 5-8 cm in diameter with yellow ray florets circling a brown, domed center of disc florets.
Butterflies are attracted to Rudbeckia hirta when planted in large color-masses
The roots but not seedheads of Rudbeckia hirta can be used much like the related Echinacea purpurea.
It is an astringent used as in a warm infusion as a wash for sores and swellings, The Ojibwa used it as a poultice for snake bites and to make an infusion for treating colds and worms in children. The plant is diuretic and was used by the Menominee and Potawatomi.
Juice from the roots had been used as drops for earaches.
The plant contains anthocyanins.
